Next Video Gaming Meeting: The fall 2008 semester of the Patro-Tech Science Club will takes place on Saturday September 20, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A Video Gaming workshop will be presented at the monthly meetings on every 3rd Saturday from September to December.
This year the Patriots will feature the exciting addition of the Urban Video Game Academy - UVGA. The four-year old technology literacy and learning program is designed for elementary, middle and high school students to help increase STEM learning and to foster confidence in learning the hard stuff – while having loads of fun designing, writing, and creating video games with the latest in software, digital art and programming.
Gaming Time, a 2-hour workshop, will be held on Saturdays at the Patriots Technology Training Center. The first phase of this technology literacy and learning program will run from September 2008 until December 2008. The schedule is as follows:

General information: The goals of UVGA at Patriots is to provide hi-tech training and instruction through video game design projects to help prepare youths for 21st century technology pathways in potential high growth, high-wage STEM and IT careers. The ever broadening growth, portable careers in fields where scientists, engineers, programmers, analysts, and artists use 3-D modeling, animation, communication design, and programming to communicate ideas and examination to many areas of the new economy.
The UVGA Program: The UVGA nationally recognized tech literacy, learning and mentoring program uses the video game development pipeline process that can be easily integrated on a computer. The program is designed to increase students' retention and achievement in associated grade math, science, and technology concepts and procedures. This is accomplished through innovative instructional strategies for the creation of 2D and 3D simulation/animation, design and video game programming projects.
Video Game Industry and University/College Support: The program will include guest speakers from the video game industry as well as university and college students well on their way to a career in digital graphic design, animation and video game.
