HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES ALUMNI CHAPTERS (HBCUs AC) MATCHING AVAILABILITY TO OPPORTUNTITY

General information: Patriots has developed a cooperative relationship with the Washington, DC Historically Black Colleges and Universities Alumni Chapters (HBCUs AC) to enhance their outreach to potential college students.

Program: :The HBCUs AC will help to increase enrollment at their colleges and to identify resources for the students.

The HBCUs AC will assist with providing the following:

  • Compile and disseminate financial aid opportunities to assist students in attending HBCUs, with emphasis on financial aid resources external to the HBCUs and leveraging those opportunities by partial tuition waiver agreements with the participating HBCUs.
  • Commitment to provide Patriots members with college brochures and financial assistance information, plus other material at the discretion of the institutions.
  • Commitment to contribute information on the college to a collective web site intended to market the participating HBCUs AC to potential recruits.
  • Preparation for students in essay writing for scholarships
  • Commitment by the alumni association to arrange and chaperone campus visits by groups of high school students
  • Exhibit at Patriots Youth Summit on Technology

Student Opportunities: :

  • Invited to attend HBCUs Alumni Chapters monthly meetings
  • Match to a mentor
  • Opportunity to volunteer at the HBCUs Alumni Chapters events
  • Job-shadow an alumni member
