General Information:  The Aerospace/Aviation Summit brings government, the aerospace industry, and our youth together to expose them to aerospace  careers.  
For the second year, Joint Base Andrews will be the host site for the one-day summit and Drone Competition.


The Aero Club Foundation was our major sponsor in providing transportation and lunch for 200 attendees from Washington DC and Prince George's County Public Schools.  We also had Customer Engineering Services (CES), Northrup Grumman, SA-TECH, and VENCORE as sponsors.

Aerospace/Aviation Summit:  The summit will provide the students the opportunity to visit seven aerospace exhibits/workshops giving them an overview of aerospace
careers:  Below is a list of the workshops:




  • Aerospace/Aviation Careers
  • Air Traffic Control
  • Aircraft Operatons and Maintenance
  • Becoming an Aviator
  • Crew Resource Management (CRM)
  • Drone Safety
  • Working in Next Generation Space Propulsion


Drone Competition:  Teams will produce a research paper on the different types of drones, how they are used in the commercial and military world, and information
on parts that are used to build them.  The team will also provide a presentation on their findings in front of ten of our aerospace industry partners.  Additionally,
we will set up a caged, obstacle course for a drone race among the teams.  There will be recruitment of 10 teams with 5 students on a team.  Hosted workshops will be
accessible from November 2018 to February 2019 to prepare the students for the competition.  The top three teams will win a monetary gift card for each team member.


Prizes:

1st Place:  Each member of the winning team will receive a $75 Gift Card

2nd Place:  Each member for the winning team will receive a $50 Gift Card

3rd Place: Each member for the winning team will receive a $25 Gift Card


Schools:  Attendees will be among the Washington, DC, Maryland schools system and home schooled middle and high school students.


Business and government support:  Invitations will be submitted to our industry partners and last year supporters:
