Computer Helpdesk Registration


Open House Kick Off:  October 25, 2014 Patriots Technology Training Center


Only 10 slots available for each session.


There are two sessions on Saturday:

  • 1st Session: 9:00 am - 12:00 noon
  • 2nd Session: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

General Information: Patriots Computer Helpdesk (PCH) will introduce

middle  and high school students to all aspects of  employment as a

computer  helpdesk professional.


The helpdesk will serve as a hub for receiving phone calls  from 

Patriots members and trained students will work to troubleshoot

and resolve  computer and Information Technology (IT) related problems. 


This is a three-month program (20 hours per month).



Program:  PCH will provide students with customer service,communication

skill-building training, training oncomputerhardwaretechnologies, and a variety

of software packages and thefollowing course curriculum:

                                                                                                                                                         

  • Network Topology - how computers, printers, and other devices connect to a network
  • Infrastructure Security - components comprising an IT infrastructure - firewalls, routers, switches etc.
  • Security - discussion of common IT security issues
  • Cyber Ethics - code of  behavior on the internet
  • Wireless Networking Basics - what is needed to set up a wireless network
  • Base-lining and hardening -  base-lining and hardening IT architecture to reduce the risk of attack
  • Security and the Law - information security, technology law, and IT policy
  • Internet Research - how to conduct research on the Internet
  • Introduction to computers
  • Network Hardware - key networking concepts and basics of computer networking
  • Network Workstation Client Configuration



Fee:  Patriots Computer Helpdesk program participation cost is $100.  All participants must be a Patriots member.
