The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-governed organizations based in the United States. NSBE, founded in 1975, supports and promotes the aspiration of collegiate and pre-collegiate students and technical professionals in engineering and technology.
With more than 790 chapters and more than 20,000 active members in the U.S. and abroad, NSBE’s mission is “
to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.”
For the past 20 years, the Patriots has chartered a NSBE Jr Chapter for 4 th to 12 th grade students. Our students have attended their summer, regional, and national conferences where they have an opportunity to meet students across the country, network with colleges/universities, IT companies, and Federal government agencies, attend workshops, and compete in competitions. Some of the major benefits for having a NSBE Jr Chapter are because NSBE provides scholarship opportunities and helps us build a roadmap for our members to become engineers.
As a NSBE Jr Chapter, we have partnered with the NSBE collegian and alumni chapters:
Capitol Technology University
University of Maryland
US Naval Academy Washington DC Alumni Chapter
