Patriots Host STEM Workshops At

Suitland High School Summer Camp 2022

Summer STEM Camp:

Sessions of STEM Workshops

The Patriots will host in-person STEM workshops on four different STEM industries. 

Cyber/Coding        

In this workshop, students will learn how to protect valuable data assets and develop next generation cyber skills to anticipate and avoid cyber threats.

E-Sports Video Games STEM Careers 

Students will receive introduction on E-Sports Tournaments/Careers which is known as electronic sports. E-sports is currently marked as earning over $138 Billion as it becomes the most prominent form of global entertainment and considered a sport nationwide with players becoming superstars. 

Aerospace

Students will be presented information on the different careers in the Aerospace industry.    

  • Airplane Pilot 
  • Aircraft/Space Craft Designer 
  • Mechanical Engineer 
  • Electrical Engineer 
  • Test Pilot 
  • Aerospace Technician

Shipbuilding

Students will be introduced into a game program called FLEET. First students will construct their own ship and test the real-world physics. Once passing, students will take their ships out for a large range of missions, such as:

  • Welding 
  • Electricians 
  • Rigger Engineers 
  • Naval Architects 
  • Structural Fabricators 

A great opportunity for students to get in-depth knowledge about technology while enjoying interesting workshops and competitions with the chance for students to compete in video tournaments and win prizes.   

High School STEM Careers Symposium 

July 26 & 28 || 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM 

The Patriots High School Career Symposium is all about every industry! Students are exposed to a large range of career opportunities in STEM, ranging from E-Sports, Cybersecurity, Aerospace/Aviation, Bio-medical, Engineering, Chemistry, and more. We will invite our government and industry IT partners and there will be over 20 STEM exhibit displays for the students to choose from and participate in hands-on activities which will motivate their interest in careers in the STEM industries.

Participants: Individuals 6th to 12th Grade Students

Registration is free. Signup for one or both.

Expectations

Mentor Expectations (Adult)

  • Complete online registration form. Click here.
  • Attend the Patriots Back to School Summit (or have a corporate representative).
  • Commit to serving as an E-Mentor for at least 1 year.
  • Respond to online submitted questions within 48 hours.
  • If unable to answer an online question, please notify the E-Mentoring website administrator with 24 hours.
  • Consider hosting a virtual online workshop.
  • Please inform Patriots if you would like to include other company representatives.
  • Complete an end-of-the-year E-Mentoring program evaluation.

Mentee Expectations (Student)

  • Attend the Patriots Back to School Summit.
  • Commit to participation in the E-Mentoring program for at least 1 year.
  • Attend at least 8 webinars.
  • Ask respectful and inquisitive questions.
  • Respect the response from the E-Mentor.
  • Participate in the Patriots’ monthly virtual workshops/competitions.
  • Complete an end-of-the-year E-Mentoring program evaluation.
  • Become a member of the Patriots/NSBE Jr Chapter (complete the registration form so that we will have an idea of your career goal).
